WATERBURY — A Waterbury daycare has voluntarily surrendered their license, effective immediately, after a 3-year-old broke her arm.
On October 24, a mother picked her daughter up from Kids Town daycare, located at 835 Wolcott Street in Waterbury, and noticed that the girl’s arm was “hanging” strangely by her side. When she asked the teacher about it, the woman said that the girl was “acting up” and hurt her arm while throwing books around the classroom.
The girl was taken to the hospital that night after the arm began bruising and swelling, and x-rays showed several fractures in her bone.
Friday, representatives from the Waterbury School Readiness Council, 2-1-1 Childcare, United Way of Connecticut and Office of Early Childhood staff were on site at the daycare center assisting families with children enrolled there. The representatives were able to place almost all of the children into other daycare facilities in the Waterbury area to start Monday morning.
Adnelly Moipard is charged with third-degree assault and other offenses in connection with the girl’s injury, which occurred late last month.
Police said Moipard, 60, is seen on security video grabbing and dragging the girl by the arm. Moipard is free pending her next court appearance.
