NEW HAVEN — A crash has caused Whalley Avenue in New Haven to be closed Friday afternoon.
Officials said police, fire and utility companies responded to a crash that closed Whalley Avenue from Amity Road to Pond Lilly Avenue. Traffic exiting from Route 15 (N&S) can only turn west into Woodbridge.
Traffic is being diverted to Amity Road.
The crash involved a single car that hit a utility pole. The driver was not injured.
Traffic will likely be impacted for some time as the utility pole needs to be replaced. Emergency crews are working on that now.
