Stamford High student dies after being hit by van

STAMFORD — An 18-year-old student died from injuries after being hit by a van Saturday morning.

Police said around 7:30 a.m. a Chevrolet van was driving on Strawberry HIll Avenue in front of Stamford High School when it struck a female student who crossing the street.

The student was not in the crosswalk according to police. She was taken to Stamford Hospital with severe injuries, and later died. Police identified the victim as Karina Tinajero-Arreguin of Stamford.


The van driver stayed on the scene and talked to police. SAT tests were being given Saturday morning at Stamford High.

The accident is under investigation.
