One dead in East Windsor mobile home fire

EAST WINDSOR - The investigation continues into a fire that took the life of one person in East Windsor late Sunday night.

Just before 10:30 p.m., police and firefighters were called to a mobile home on North Road that was engulfed in flames. The person, whose identity has not been released, was trapped inside and didn't make it out.

A police officer was traveling on North Road when the officer noticed smoke coming from the trailer park.  The officer tried to gain access but was pushed back due to heavy smoke.

Several officers tried to get in but were unsuccessful as the mobile home was engulfed in flames.

Nearby residents were successfully evacuated without injury.

Two neighboring homes were damaged and residents were displaced pending an investigation.

The State Fire Marshal is on scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.
