HARTFORD — Police have arrested a 21-year-old convicted felon they say sprayed bullets inside a Hartford apartment in which seven children were present.

None of the children was hurt, but a man was wounded.

Officers were dispatched to the apartment building at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the assailant shot a man in one apartment, then during a struggle, fell through the door of another unit where children were present and continued firing.

Police charged Yamil Rohena with first-degree assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm and other offenses.

He was subdued and disarmed by his alleged victim, who was shot in the arm. The man is recovering at Hartford Hospital.

Rohena has an “extensive criminal history,” according to police.

It could not immediately be determined if Rohena had a lawyer.
