At least 25 cities have seen protests against the election of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States, and the marches show no sign of calming down.

While the demonstrations have been mostly peaceful, dozens of people have been arrested, and there have been some instances of property damage.

Thousands marched in Denver, Los Angeles, New York and other cities.

Trump responded to the protests on Twitter, saying, “Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!”

Earlier in the day, several hundred people walked onto a Los Angeles freeway, causing miles-long traffic backups.

Los Angeles Mayor Gil Garcetti said while he respects the right of the demonstrators to show displeasure, police would take action against those risking public safety.

Other protests occurred in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Louisville and Dallas.

In Philadelphia, a crowd that included parents with children in strollers gathered Thursday night near City Hall. They held signs bearing slogans like “Not Our President,” ”Trans Against Trump” and “Make America Safe For All.”

About 500 people turned out in Louisville, Kentucky, chanting and carrying signs as they marched downtown. A day earlier, five people were arrested at Western Kentucky University as demonstrators protested Trump’s election.

About 300 people gathered Thursday night at Dealey Plaza to speak against the election. Just like Wednesday night, Thursday’s demonstration was peaceful with no disturbances or arrests reported. It ended with a march into the heart of downtown Dallas by demonstrators carrying signs bearing such slogans as “Love Trumps Hate” and “Spirit Unbreakable.”

Trump’s supporters have been spotted holding their own demonstrations, saying the billionaire is needed to fix government dysfunction.
