NEW HAVEN —  For another day, protests against President-elect Donald Trump continued in the Elm City.

“People can and should make a difference. I feel compelled to speak out and be a part of this. I’ve never protested anything in my life,” said Susan Duval.

Duval joined hundreds in New Haven to protest, bringing her granddaughter, concerned about the future America she faces.

“I think our presidents must be role models and must be civil. This is what we want to teach our kids.”

The protest’s organizers were motivated by their disappointment on Tuesday.  “We were devastated by the results of the election. We were devastated by how fearful people were,” said Yasmin Thornton.

Thornton is hoping for a silver lining out of what she considers a dark week.

“The one good thing that might come from this is people are so furious that they need to act on that fury and that fire and get motivated and get moving and get active and involved,” Thorton added.

“I’d rather do everything I can to denounce that in my daily life. I can’t just sit inside my house all afternoon,” said Stephen Urchick.

He feels strongly that America made the wrong choice. “We can’t have an executive that’s racist, that’s bigoted, that’s misogynistic, that’s homophobic. I mean he’s the most unqualified presidential candidate in the history of our country.”

And he is hoping the momentum he saw Sunday, continues.

“If we can keep this up for the next 4 years we’re going to be in a good place.”
