STORRS--They're not old enough to vote, but dozens of high school students in Storrs have a lot to say about the presidential election.

As school let out early Monday, a group from E. O. Smith High School gathered in the center of Storrs to begin a peaceful “Love Trumps Hate” rally.

Many say since the election, there have been some heated arguments in the hallways about President-elect Donald Trump. But things are looking up.

Sophia Blush, one of the organizers of Monday's protest, said, “I think it's kind of calmed down now and I think we're trying to understand each other.”

Blush also added that she was impressed by Trump's message on "60 Minutes" Sunday night,  specifically when he said, “I'm going to bring this country together."

Blush said, “It's really good he's kind of stepping up and taking the role he's needed to take this entire time."

A pro-Trump student, Atticus Makuch, said, “I think he's taking the job very seriously. You should forget about the things he’s done in the past and focus on the future."

Another rally organizer, Eliza Pelto said, “There's always a way to reverse the damage, always a way for love and hope and peace to prevail"

Both anti-Trump and pro-Trump students said that for every peaceful demonstration across the nation they are seeing progress every day, but that for every violent protest, steps will be taken backward.
