NEW HAVEN--In one Amistad Academy classroom, taking note takes on a whole new meaning, and achievement is a group effort.
The challenge? Build a successful middle school orchestra at a time when not many middle schools even have an orchestra.
According to orchestra instructor Daniel Levin, that was the goal. "I was given the instructions to build something out of a vision," he said.
And he's been successful! The orchestra is taking the music on the road.
Levin said, "We plan to go down to Brooklyn, and over to Providence, and come back, finish up at Woolsey Hall (at Yale)."
