WINDSOR LOCKS -- Who doesn't love a good love story? If you were moving quickly through Bradley Airport the day before Thanksgiving, you might have just missed it! Amid all those travelers, was a love story 55 years in the making.

Richard Lanham, of Connecticut, waited eagerly Wednesday morning with a dozen roses by his side.

"I'm not nervous. I'm excited," he said. That excitement has been building for decades. He was there to meet his fiance - a woman he hasn't seen in 55 years.

"We were childhood sweethearts," Lanham explained. "We went to school together and we've been together ever since."

But, parent intervention and a cross-country move separated the two when they were young. They reconnected on the phone over the last year.

"We talked about what we missed, what we could've had, things we could've done together," Lanham said. Now, with patience and love on their side, they're once again back together. While waiting for this day wasn't always easy, sadness quickly turned to joy.

"I really do love this man, I've been in love with him for... well 55 years. It was worth the waiting," Elizabeth said.

This time, they will not let their love get away.

"New Year's Eve, one minute after twelve, Mr. Lanham and I are going to be married and have a big wedding reception," she said.
