Injured New Haven police officer released from hospital after being struck by motorcyclist

NEW HAVEN – New Haven Police Detective Juan Ingles was released from the hospital Monday night and is recuperating after being hit by a motorcyclist.

He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital on Monday at around 3:30 p.m.  Ingels was on traffic duty at a construction site near the intersection of Kimberly Avenue and Ella Grasso Boulevard when he was hit by a person on a motorcycle.

The 47-year-old officer was conscious when taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Ingles is a 14-year veteran of the department and works in the Family Services Unit and as a police bomb squad technician.

The driver of the motorcycle, who police are not yet identifying, stopped after the crash and was interviewed by police.
