Man dies after being found beaten in New London apartment building

NEW LONDON — A man found in the hallway of a city apartment complex with severe facial and head injuries has died.

The New London Police Department is investigating after Marlon Beasley, 38 of 127 Hempstead Street died Monday night.

Police responded to the Williams Park Apartments at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday where they found Beasley unconscious. He was taken to L&M Hospital in New London, then transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Police arrested Edgar Sanchez-Valencia, AKA Panama, 44 of New London, and his charges will be modified accordingly by the court, according to New London Police, taking into account Beasley’s death. He was originally charged with second-degree assault and was being held on a $200,000 bail.
