HARTFORD — The trial has begun for a Hartford man accused of setting up a robbery that led to the fatal shooting of a man selling items on Craigslist.

The Hartford Courant reports 25-year-old Rashad Moon went on trial Monday on charges of felony murder, robbery and conspiracy. He’s being represented by a New Haven attorney and has been jailed since his June 17, 2013 arrest.

Police say 23-year-old Marvin Mathis fatally shot 40-year-old Felix DeJesus, of Cromwell, as DeJesus was waiting to meet a prospective buyer on the night of May 8, 2013 in Hartford.

Court records say Moon is accused of getting Mathis to carry out the crime. Mathis’ attorney has said his client has a range of intellectual and psychiatric issues. Mathis faces the same charges as Moon.
