HARTFORD — Machinists at Pratt & Whitney in Middletown and East Hartford will begin working under a new contract Monday.

The company announced Sunday that it has reached a new labor agreement covering the next five-and-a-half years.

Pratt Vice President for Employee and Labor Relations Terry Nolan said the contract positions the company for long-term success and “rewards our employees for their skill, dedication and hard work.”

“The new 5 ½ year contract includes 2.5% raises, cost of living adjustments, important language regarding training and apprenticeships, and health and safety protections. The major shift in health care coverage is delayed until much later in the contract term,” said Lori J. Pelletier, President of the Connecticut AFL-CIO.

The website for International Association of Machinists Local 700 in Middletown puts the vote at 1691 to 385..

The vote was held at the Xfinity Theater in Hartford.
