HARTFORD -- Children and adults got fitted with proper snow boots ahead of the winter weather Saturday in Hartford.

Footwear with Care held a "Boot Party" for those homeless in Hartford. Boots were given out, along with socks and a lunch. They also got their feet checked out by podiatrists at Holy Trinity Church.

Community organizations including the Hartford Police Department, Community Partners in Action, Fleet Feet, and several podiatrists teamed up for the event.

In the end, 200 people were helped at the party and 40 foot exams were performed by volunteer podiatrists.

The Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association President Dr. Marc Lederman arrived and presented a $1,000 donation to Footwear with Care.

Footwear with Care also held a pop-up boot party earlier in the week.

Abigail Moore with Footwear with Care says that the effort is ongoing, and they are planning another boot party in January.

People can drop by new or like new boots at Fleet Feet, 1003 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford or donate online.
