Service restored after water main break in Rocky Hill

ROCKY HILL  —  Water has been restored after a major water main break caused traffic problems along  the Silas Deane Highway Saturday afternoon.

All service has been restored as of 2:30 a.m., according to MDC. Road restoration is underway and will continue throughout the morning.

The break happened in a 12 inch pipe on Town Line Road which is on the border of Rocky Hill and Wethersfield. The break caused another line to be shut down as well. The fire department reported water three feet deep in one area.

Town Line Road provides access to a shopping center that includes Walmart and Stop and Shop.

Crews from the Metropolitan District Commission were investigating the situation. MDC said approximately 23 businesses, several office buildings and an apartment complex  on Town Line Road from 55 Town Line Road to the Silas Deane Highway, and on the Silas Deane Highway from Town Line Road to the 91 North on ramp are affected by the shutdown.
