HARTFORD — The Connecticut appeals court has upheld the life sentence of a Waterbury man convicted of killing another man during an alleged drug deal four years ago.

The Republican-American reports the three-judge panel did overturn Joseph Walker’s conviction for conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery on the ground of double jeopardy. It sustained Walker’s convictions for murder, conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree robbery.

Walker was found guilty in the May 2012 shooting of 28-year-old David Caban during a suspected crack deal in front of Caban’s home. Prosecutors alleged Walker and an accomplice had planned to rob Caban.
