NEW HAVEN — A New Haven man has been convicted of killing a teenager during a shooting two years ago.

The New Haven Register reports the Superior Court jury on Thursday found 38-year-old Lamont Edwards guilty of murder, first-degree assault and other counts in the shooting that killed 15-year-old Jacob Craggett.

Edwards faces a maximum prison term of about 150 years when he’s sentenced Feb. 17. He remains jailed in lieu of $2 million bail.

Police said Edwards opened fire on a vehicle’s occupants on Aug. 8, 2014. Authorities said Craggett was killed after he stepped out of the car in an attempt to save his older brother, who was injured while sitting in the vehicle.

Jurors found Edwards not guilty on one of two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.
