HARTFORD -- The second annual “In the spirit of Doc Hurley” basketball tournament was held Saturday at Trinity College in Hartford.

Originally six games were scheduled but due to inclement weather the first three games were cancelled.

The lineup may have been shortened but the action sure wasn’t. The first game featured the Bloomfield Warhawks against the Indians of Newington. The Warhawks held on to win 65-62 lead by senior Jordan Pruitt.

In the second game Georgetown bound Tremont Waters and the Green Knights of Notre Dame West Haven easily beat the Cardinals of Greenwich 80-61.

The final game of the night was well worth the wait the Weavers Beavers and the Middletown Blue Dragons went back and forth right to the end. With less than five seconds left Andre Lyons hit a free throw to put the beavers up 65-64. Middletown had one last chance with :02.3 seconds left on the inbound Ahmod Privott got a good look from behind the arc but the shot bounced off the front rim and the Beavers escaped with the one point win 65-64.
