STAMFORD — Police in Stamford, Connecticut say two 16-year-old boys who allegedly assaulted and robbed a food delivery driver thought it would be a good idea to hide from police by jumping in a frigid pond.

Police tell the Stamford Advocate they got a call at about 3:40 p.m. Sunday from a witness who reported seeing three people wearing ski masks robbing the delivery man in Stamford before running away.

Lt. Gene Dohmann says more than a dozen police including two dog units descended on the area and within 15 minutes found two suspects crouching in the waters of Holly Pond up to the top of their heads. A third suspect remains at large.

The suspects are expected to face charges of assault and robbery.

The delivery driver was not seriously injured.
