Truck crashes into bridge in West Haven

WEST HAVEN — A truck crashed into the Morgan Lane Railroad bridge Monday morning in West Haven.

Around 11 a.m. West Haven Police were called to the bridge and closed the road. The tractor trailer was carrying furniture and had to be completely unloaded before the truck could be moved from the under the bridge.

The bridge that was struck is a heavily used line, carrying both commercial and transit trains. The rail line was not been affected by the crash and no structural damage was done to the bridge.

No one was hurt.

The area reopened around 2 p.m.

The truck driver was cited by the MTA police for exceeding bridge height. That carries at $146 fine.
