DERBY — Police pulled over a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning and ended up seizing 55 pounds of Fentanyl worth $1.5 million.

Police said they pulled over the tractor-trailer heading west on Route 34 in Derby about 10:50 a.m. They conducted a search and found the synthetic opioid in the cab.

Fentanyl has been blamed for a number of overdose deaths in the state.
