WATERFORD — With three days to go until Christmas, a hardware store made an effort with the local police to do something nice for those in need.

On Thursday afternoon around 3 p.m., Waterford Police announced that the local Lowes had donated 11 Christmas trees to the department to hand out to those in need. Police set up the trees on the side of the police station, near the gas pump, and offered them up first-come, first-serve.

Police did emphasize not to take advantage of the kindness. “Above all, please remember that this is for families who can’t afford a tree,” they wrote.

There were still trees an hour later, despite nearly 100 shares of the Facebook post.
