HARTFORD -- The Hartford Fire Department spread some holiday cheer on Friday for kids at a local elementary school.

About 300 children from pre-K through fourth grade at the Batchelder School in Hartford were given gifts by firefighters. One of the firefighters even dressed as Santa and greeted the children!

The department picks a different school every year to do the donation for, and has been doing it for several years.

It was a complete surprise for the little kids, who could only scream "Yay!" when they got to open their gifts.
