HARTFORD — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is banning alcohol trains and at stations from noon New Year’s Eve until noon New Year’s Day.
The transit agency said the intent is to maintain orderly travel and safe station and terminal operations.
As in prior years, open alcoholic beverage containers will not be permitted on Long Island Rail Road trains, nor in stations nort on platforms from noon on New Year’s Eve through noon on New Year’s Day.
MTA police officers will be on duty at Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, stations and trains to enforce the restriction.
Police will confiscate alcoholic beverages and issue summonses carrying fines or imprisonment.
