WOLCOTT — The Wolcott Dog Pound was called to a horrible scene on Friday.

Around 4 p.m., the pound got a call from the boat launch at Scoville Reservoir that there was a box with a dead dog inside.

The pound says a 4-month-old pit bull puppy was inside, and showed obvious signs of neglect from basic needs, as well as from physical abuse.

It’s believed the box was left there between Thursday night and Friday afternoon.

The Wolcott Police Department and Wolcott Animal Control have joined in the investigation to find the person responsible for the dog’s death.

If you saw anyone in the area of the Scoville Reservoir that seemed suspicious, or have information, please call police at 203-879-1414.
