GREENWICH — A town official was arrested Thursday on charges of possessing child pornography.

State police said Christopher Sandys, 46, of Greenwich, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of child pornography. Sandys is listed as a member of the Representative Town Meeting, which serves as the town’s legislative body. Members petition to join the RTM according to the town’s website.

State police said an investigation by state and local police into peer to peer child pornography trading led them to find over 700 images of child pornography on Sandys’ desktop computer.

Sandys was held on a $300,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20.
