NEW BRITAIN — Police are asking the public for help in solving a 26 year old homicide case.

Police said the body of a woman was found on October 11, 1991 near the railroad tracks in the rear of 200 Myrtle St. in New Britain. The investigation determined she had been shot and and killed several weeks prior to being found.

Since that time, police have not been able to positively identify the victim. A DNA profile developed by the State of Connecticut Forensics Laboratory has not provided any answers. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the woman is believed to be Caucasian or possibly Hispanic, 25 to 30 years of age and 5’5 tall at the time of her death. She also had a distinct “peg shaped” tooth (lateral incisor) on the right side.

In July of 2011, the New Britain Police Department received assistance from the FBI who completed a Facial Approximation of the victim.

The New Britain Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the woman. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Detective Felix Perez at 860-826-3134. Information can also be called in anonymously to (860) 826-3199 or emailed to the police department’s website .
