Woman dies after being hit by car in East Haven

EAST HAVEN — Police are investigating an accident that killed a woman on Thursday night.

East Haven Police said Colleen Carney,47,  was hit by a car near Calabro Cheese at 580 Coe Avenue at around 7 p.m. She suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where she died from her injuries.

The car, a 2014 BMW 535xi with two occupants, stayed at the scene and the driver, David Parise, was cooperating with police .

Police said Parise was driving north on Coe Avenue when Carney was hit  in the road. Police said Carney was not in a crosswalk.

“At this point, no charges have been filed against the operator of the vehicle as this appears to be just a tragic accident,” said East Haven Police Lieutenant Joseph M. Murgo.

Coe Avenue was closed but back open early Friday morning.
