Researchers have confirmed what you may have already known about your dog.

It turns out that your dog pays more attention when you talk in a silly "dog voice," which the researchers call "dog-directed speech." They found it is more effective on puppies than adult dogs, according to Wired magazine.

To test the impact of dog-directed speech, researchers recorded adult volunteers speaking in front of pictures of puppies, adult and old dogs and analysed the nature of their speech. These recordings were then played back to real dogs to assess their reactions to dog-directed speech versus normal speech.

But, the strange mode of speech alone, they concluded, was not always enough to capture a dog’s attention.
