MANCHESTER — Residents held a fundraiser Thursday for the family of Barry “Mitch” Mitchell who died suddenly last week.

Mitchell was a staff member at Manchester High. He died after having a heart attack on Wednesday at school.

People came out to Maggie McFly’s restaurant at the Shoppes at Buckland Hills. The restaurant promised to donate 15% of all purchases between 7 and 11 Mitchell’s family.

Hundreds turned out last week on the school’s football field to remember Mitchell. A student produced a video with interviews of staff and students recalling how special Mitchell was.

At 7 p.m. on February 2, a concert will be held in Mitchell’s memory at the high school auditorium with performances by Elton Hurd, Luis Gonzalez,
Anthony Beaulieu, Cristobal Colon, Jasean Falero, Marley Howard, and guest star Ru Williams. Cost of tickets will be $5 prepaid, $10 at the door.Manchester fundraiser
