WEST HARTFORD —  A West Hartford man was taken to St. Francis Hospital after being struck by a car that was involved in a police chase.

On Wednesday, February 8, Hartford Police say they were involved in a car chase with a reported stolen Acura. Police say the driver, Jonathan Rosado,18, of Hartford struck a police car during the chase and continued driving. Police say the officer struck suffered minor injuries.

Officers say Rosado continued the pursuit through Hartford onto I-84 West to West Hartford. West Hartford Police assisted with the pursuit, where they used stops sticks in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Rosado continued driving to the intersection of North Main Street and Fern Street where he drove through a red light, striking a car driven by Marvin Kay, 79, of West Hartford, police say.

Officers say the Kay struck a curb that caused his car to turn over on its side. Kay was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he was treated for neck and back pain.

Officers say Rosado kept going and continued driving into Bloomfield before police caught up with him. Police say Rosado and his passenger refused to get out of the car, forcing officers to break the windows and make the arrests. Joshua Dionne, 18, of Manchester was Rosado’s passenger, police said.

Police say Rosado has been a suspect of past car thefts and has a history with auto theft detectives. Rosado was charged with second degree larceny, evading responsibility, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, engaging police in pursuit, interfering with police, first degree criminal mischief, operating without a license, second degree criminal trover and disobeying officer signal in a construction zone.

Dionne was charged with second degree larceny, second degree criminal trover and interfering with police. Officers say Dionne was on probation during the arrest with prior auto theft history. He also had two outstanding active arrest warrants in Wethersfield and East Hartford.
