HARTFORD -- Despite cold temperatures, Hartford’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicked off on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The parade started at the State Capitol and moved up to Main Street, then down Asylum Street and ended at the Arch in Bushnell Park.

Crowds were lighter than years past due to the cold.

FOX61's Kaitlin Goslee went back to her roots and did some Irish step dancing with a group from Wethersfield.

Groups from all over central Connecticut marched in the parade. Because of the cold weather some bands dropped out of the parade.

Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin was excited to see the turn out.
