LITCHFIELD COUNTY -- Litchfield County spent Wednesday digging out after the Blizzard of 2017 dumped an average of 19 inches of snow on the northwest corner of the state Tuesday. Torrington students enjoyed another day at home as the cleanup throughout the city continues.

Torrington police Lt. John Joseph said there is also a parking ban still in place, while plows work to clear side and secondary roads. He said there is nightly parking ban in town from midnight until 6 a.m. that residents are used to, but police still needed to issue a handful of tickets to drivers who did not follow the regulations.

Another major part of Wednesday’s cleanup is for those who are faced with digging out their cars and driveways. Most residents had help from snowblowers and plows to get the job done.

"There's no way. It's heart attack snow. Just trying to do a little 5 by 5 patch for the dogs, I had to do it in four layers," said Beverly Kocsis, who was using a snowblower to finish up the walkway at her brother's Torrington home. He's currently on vacation in Arizona.

"I'm just trying to get the driveway and the sidewalks so my brother, when he comes home, can at least get in the house," Kocsis said.

In Litchfield, it was the same story. Some residents started digging out late Tuesday night, but many more were finishing up Wednesday.

Litchfield resident Jerry Gault said, "We've been here since 1996 and this was one of the larger storms that we've had. Normally it takes me a half hour to clear my driveway, this morning it took an hour and a half."

Norfolk residents had it the worst. They got the Blizzard 2017 jackpot with 20 inches of snow.
