NEWTOWN — A serious crash closed Route 25 in Newtown for several hours Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
State police said the crash happened in the area of Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street in Newtown, and was the result of a police chase that began at around 9 p.m. when Monroe police tried to stop a Honda reported stolen out of Danbury.
The driver took off and while taking a curve on Route 25 near Bryan Lane in Newtown, the car crossed the double yellow line and hit a Mercedes E350 coming the other way.
The driver of the Honda, Rasheim Lewis, 31, of Danbury, was taken to Danbury Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Mercedes suffered minor injuries and did not want to go to the hospital.
The road was closed for several hours.
