HARTFORD — There was a fatal crash in Hartford Tuesday morning.

The Wilbur Cross Parkway, or Route 5/15, at the Charter Oak Bridge was closed at Exit 86, near the Hartford-Wethersfield line early Tuesday but has since reopened.

Police said a 2017 Buick LaCrosse was heading north in the right lane when it drove into the right shoulder, hit a guardrail and rode it for a short distance before hitting the left guardrail, going airborne then hitting a tree, landing on its roof in the woods.

Two people were in the car, Jeffrey Rivera, 36, of Waterbury, and Jose Guzman, 47, of Hartford, who was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Rivera was found in the car and taken to Hartford Hospital for an evaluation of his injuries.

It is unknown which occupant was the operator at this time. The crash is currently under investigation, according to police.
