BRIDGEPORT — Police said the father of a 10-month-old baby who died in a Bridgeport apartment appeared in court Friday..
Bridgeport police charged Derrick Siberon, 30, with first-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor.
Siberon faces a maximum of 30 years in prison on the manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor charges.
The judge set bond at $200,000. He is due in court again on June 13.
Police said 10-month-old Donovan Siberon was found unresponsive and taken to Bridgeport Hospital last month, then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died the following day. The baby, police said, lived with his mother, Lailani Malave and his father on Highland Avenue.
The state medical examiner said child suffered head injuries and ruled the death a homicide.
“A subsequent autopsy revealed injuries to the baby’s head and his death was ruled a homicide,” said police.
