TORRINGTON —  Connecticut State Police said Route 8 northbound by exit 44  has reopened after a dump truck lost its load of sludge Thursday afternoon.

The dump truck was traveling on Route 8 Northbound in the right lane when the sludge in the back of the vehicle shifted, causing it to seep through the rear gate and come in contact with the car next to it. The sludge caused minor passenger side damage to the vehicle involved.

The operator of the dump truck was given an infraction for Failure to Secure Load and for Operating an unregistered Commercial Vehicle on a public highway.

The police have reported no injuries.
