2-year-old on life support after swimming incident in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT —  Police say a 2-year-old girl has been placed on life support after she nearly drowned in a pool.

According to police, it happened at a home in Bridgeport last Friday afternoon. The girl’s mother pulled her from the pool and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The toddler was rushed to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, then transported to Yale New Haven Hospital by helicopter later that afternoon.

The city’s police chief says the incident appears to have been an accident.

Police have not released the name of the family or the girl.
