MANSFIELD -- Connecticut State Police responded to a serious bicycle accident on Route 195 in Mansfield on Thursday.
The bicyclist, Stephen Grotton, 19, was traveling south on Route 195 down a steep hill when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of his bike. Grotton then fell onto the pavement in the area of the southbound shoulder.
A LifeStar helicopter was dispatched to the scene to retrieve him at around 6:30 p.m. The area of Route 195 Storrs Road and Ledgewood Drive was closed while rescue crews and police work the scene. The roads in that area have since been reopened.
