Hartford police host neighborhood gun buyback; 175 guns collected

HARTFORD -- The department traded gift cards for guns on Saturday at the Johnson Stewart Community Center on Martin Street.

Guns were turned in anonymously in return for gift cards that ranged from $450 for an assault rifle, $250 for a semi-automatic handgun, $150 for a revolver and $100 for any shotgun or rifle.

More than 175 guns collected and more than $23,000 worth of gift cards distributed.
