WEST HAVEN — The pedestrian struck by a car Wednesday night in West Haven has succumbed to her injuries, according to police.
Police say the woman struck was part of a construction crew from American Industries. The car they were operating became disabled on Boston Post Road near Meloy Road.
When the worker tried to slow down traffic to help the disable vehicle maneuver, she was struck by an oncoming car. It’s unknown if the driver stayed on scene.
West Haven police said the victim was taken to a local hospital where she was being treated for serious injuries, but later died Thursday afternoon. Police ask drivers to avoid the area as traffic will be detoured.
