HARTFORD -- The Hartford Police Department is investigating a homicide.

Police said the victim was identified as Vadol Crooks, 23, of Hartford.

Police said the body was found at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday by teens fulfilling community service hours for underage drinking at a concert. The group was cleaning up litter in the park when they made the chilling discovery.

Police said the victim was stabbed multiple times and was found on the Keney Park Nature trail.

"The incident occurred at some point overnight, just guessing from experience, sometime between midnight and 7 o'clock this morning. We have some camera footage to review," said Deputy Chief Brian Foley of HPD.

It is the nineteenth homicide in Hartford this year. For much of the day, detectives had the area closed off while they searched with K9 units.
