Minor earthquake recorded in northern New Jersey

MORRISTOWN, NJ. — A minor earthquake shook parts of Northern New Jersey Monday evening.

The quake, centered near Cedar Knolls, hit at 6:35 p.m. It was a small temblor, registering 1.5 magnitude.

Quakes of that magnitude are mostly registered on a seismograph, but many times aren’t felt on the surface.
