BRANFORD —  Branford High School was evacuated and closed all day Thursday due to a bomb threat according to police.

Police have since said there was nothing found. “Branford Police, utilizing the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad have searched the Branford High School and it is safe to reopen.” said Chief Kevin Halloran.

Earlier, East Haven High School was evacuated, also due to a bomb threat. That evacuation order for East Haven has since been lifted.

Police say all students were safe and the Branford Police Department was coordinating with the school district to ensure all proper procedures are followed.

All staff and students are being taken to the Walsh Intermediate School. Police are planning an orderly pick-up from the school and will convey additional information to parents of the student.
