WETHERSFIELD — Police said the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield has reopened following a serious accident Thursday evening.

Around 12:41 p.m., Wethersfield police said they responded to a report of a car versus tractor trailer accident on the Berlin Turnpike at the intersection with Arrow Road.

“Numerous officers, Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department personnel and ambulance personnel arrived on scene and immediately began treating the car’s two occupants for serious injuries. Both occupants were transported to the hospital by ambulance, the truck’s driver refused medical attention at the scene,” said police.

The Berlin Turnpike northbound was closed at Wells Road (Rt. 175) for a short time while the on-scene investigation took place.

“Members of the Midstate Accident Reconstruction Team were on scene and continue to investigate this accident,” police said.

The road was reopened around 4:30 p.m.
