New London police investigate early morning shooting

NEW LONDON –New London police say they are investigating a shooting at a home.

Just before 1:30 a.m., police got a 911 call from a woman reporting she had been shot 12 Home Street.

Officials responded and found a woman who sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the area of her right buttocks.

Police also found and contacted a man who allegedly shot the woman at the scene.

Both the woman and man were taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The man was identified as George A. Taylor, 44, who was a resident at 12 Home Street. He sustained a superficial laceration to his left hand.

A search of the home revealed a Taurus, 9mm semi-auto handgun.

Taylor was arrested, charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,

Detectives are investigating.
