NEWINGTON— The Mega Millions winning numbers are 70,59, 30, 28, 39 - 10.

The top prize was raised ahead of the drawing Friday night.

Lottery officials also increased the jackpot of Powerball, the other national lottery game, to $570 million. That drawing will be Saturday night on FOX 61.

The jackpots refer to the annuity options for both games, in which payments are made over 29 years. Most winners opt for cash options, which would be $281 million for Mega Millions and $358.5 million for Powerball.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is one in 302.5 million. Powerball has odds of one in 292.2 million, but some people said they had a good feeling.

“I’m feeling pretty lucky, I don’t know,” said Ray Jones of Newington.

Jones said he never was interested in playing the lottery with Friday night being an exception seeing how high the amount climbed to.

“I would put the kids’ college funds aside and pay off the house and the car. I’d probably still be frugal and I probably wouldn’t go too extravagant,” added Jones.

The Mega Millions is the fourth largest in the game’s history and the 13th largest in U.S. lottery jackpot history.

“Finish paying a couple of bills such as the college and then help our children out because we have two children who graduated college and get them started,” said Stephen St. Jean of Rocky Hill.

“If I was to win that money, I’d probably pay down a little bit of student debt and probably take a vacation and probably buy my first home,” said Tyler Morrissey of Newington.

“I’d pay off my house, take care of my kids, I like to do a lot of charity work so I help out a lot of people, feed the hungry,” said Joe Debiase of Seymour.

For those who bought both the Mega Millions and Powerball Jackpot, they could see a combined payout of over a billion dollars if they win.

Both games are played in 44 states plus Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico also participates in Powerball.
