GLASTONBURY -- Police shot and injured a suspect who ran after a confrontation with police about a stolen car.

East Hartford police said they received a report of a stolen vehicle Sunday evening.  Around 8:30 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle and the operator in the parking lot of 11 Turtle Creek Lane.

Police said officers were injured, and fired at the vehicle and the suspect who drove away from the scene.

Other East Hartford officers then chased the vehicle to the area of New London Turnpike, Chestnut Hill Road and Copley Road in Glastonbury. Police said East Hartford Police Officers fired at the suspect at that scene, and the suspect was struck by gunfire.

The suspect was treated and taken to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown, but state police said he is still in the hospital.

State Police said all injured officers have been released from the hospital. East Hartford police said some of the officers are having their injuries evaluated, while others have been placed on administrative duty.

Trooper Kelly Grant of the Connecticut State Police said, "An investigation into this incident will be led by Connecticut State Police and the Connecticut State’s Attorney’s Office, which is standard protocol for this type of incident. State investigators will have full cooperation from East Hartford Police.”

Neighbors told FOX61 that they heard two rounds of multiple gunshots Sunday night after hearing a crash.

"I looked out, I saw a bunch of lights, and then I heard shooting," said Cathy Domin.

Jamie Harmon watched the scene play out right outside her front door.

"I peeked out and then, all of a sudden, I just heard gunshots, lots of gunshots," said Harmon. "I immediately ran to the back of my house. I was really frazzled."
