BRIDGEPORT -- Bridgeport Police are asking for the public to help them find two suspects wanted in a shooting Tuesday evening.
FOX61 News has obtained dramatic surveillance video of the shooting, which took place at the Sunshine Deli on Stratford Avenue Tuesday night. Moments before the shooting, unsuspecting customers gathered around the front of the store shortly before 10pm.
Suddenly bullets began flying through the front glass door into the crowd, which sent people scrambling. Another angle of the video shows customers on a different side of the counter.
When they heard gunfire, they also ran towards the back of the store.
Several of them hit the ground.
New Haven resident Gary Nelson said he was coming from a Bullard Haven Girls Basketball game when he heard shots ring out.
"As we were standing there we were told a couple of people were shot inside the store and again more community started to come around to try to identify people to make sure it wasn’t none of their friends or family.”
City of Bridgeport spokesman, Av Harris, said four people were shot during the incident including, one person in the buttocks, one person in the stomach and another in the hand.
Miraculously, all of the victims survived with non-life threating injuries.
Nelson, who grew up in Bridgeport, said unfortunately this kind of violence has become normal.
“For some kids I think that the gunshots and becoming gangsters is the thing to do,” he said.
From the camera outside, the shooters can be seen wearing all black and opening fire before fleeing the scene.
Harris also said there were shell casings from at least three different guns in the store and outside in the street.
Police ask the public to contact Detective T. Toth at (203) 581-5244 or 203-576-TIPS (8477) with any information.
